The construction of intelligent mine cannot be separated from the support of communication network, especially the support of wireless communication network. On September 21, 2022, Changzhou Research Institute made a major breakthrough in 5G base stations. It was the first in China to launch a mine safety base station integrating functions of 5G, WiFi6, network switching and UWB precise positioning, and successfully obtained the coal safety certificate, realizing the safety and lightweight innovation of underground 5G base stations. This is another breakthrough made by Changzhou Research Institute after it launched the first batch of 5G systems and related products in China in August 2020, accelerating the "new engine" of 5G in smart mines.


The base station organically integrates 5G with WIFI6, precise positioning and other functions, which not only enrichis the product functions, but also reduces the use of explosion-proof shell, improves the installation convenience, and significantly reduces the product cost and installation and maintenance cost.

The 5G bearer network will be integrated with the existing industrial ring network


5G bearer network equipment features large port data capacity (50MB / 100MB), "FlexE" hard slice, high-precision clock synchronization protocol (1588V2) and other technical features, which meet the requirements of large bandwidth, low delay, and wide access of the current industrial ring network.


Network slicing technology can combine the newly built 5G bearer network and many industrial Ethernet ring networks in the mine into one network. Different slicing networks carry different services such as monitoring, video, 5G and communication respectively, greatly reducing the number of underground networks and reducing operation and maintenance costs.

Self-developed 5G module


The module can be used as an optional component to upgrade the original communication mode with the products of Changzhou Research Institute. While providing large bandwidth and low delay, the communication cables of the equipment are reduced and the deployment flexibility of the equipment is improved. It can also be matched with mobile high-definition cameras to achieve ultra-clear video stream transmission, improve the accuracy of machine vision analysis, and further strengthen the operational capabilities of unmanned underground and underground operating robots. The physical circuit of the module is compatible with 4G modules and supports multiple 5G modules platforms, so 4G/5G modules can be reasonably selected according to the actual application requirements and budget. The product can be used for 5G upgrading of the whole mine broadcast, personnel positioning base station data return, high-definition camera video push stream and other systems.


Consolidate the "foundation" of 5G for mining by integrating industry trends


In view of the high power consumption of 5G transmission control equipment and the difficulty of heat dissipation of flation-proof shell, Changzhou Research Institute has carried out industrial design transformation, software simulation and field test on the shell and heat dissipation mechanism of 5G products, optimized the heat dissipation solution and improved the product stability.


On the basis of the original mining 4G wireless communication system, 4G/5G integration networking is realized, and application services such as "high-definition industrial video, industrial intelligent control and unmanned driving" carried by 5G are combined with services such as "mobile voice service and integrated scheduling" carried by 4G system, which not only protects the original investment, but also improves product performance. It meets the needs of communication network for mine intelligent construction.


At present, Changzhou Research Institute 5G system has been implemented in many coal mines in Shanxi, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia and so on.
